Illinois Street Lounge
I've been listening a lot to a music stream called Illinois Street Lounge. I really love it - especially as background music for when I am working. I have always loved this style of music. Think of the music themes to "Get Smart" or "I Dream Of Jeannie" and throw in some bossa-nova like Gilberto's "Girl From Impanema" and some classic bachelor pad / martini lounge from the likes of Esquival, Martin Denny and Farrente/Teicher. They even throw in real corn-ball like "Thelonius Moog" (a play on the name of the famous jazz pianist Thelonius Monk) with nutty tunes played on a synthesizer. A lot of this music was created at the time that stereo recordings really started becoming ubiquitous so there is a lot of interesting stereo effects involved in much of it. I really can't get enough of it although I don't know where Illinois Street is...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day all!
It is wicked cold for Dallas (28F this morning with a high of 34 I think and tonight gets down to 26F). I hope everyone gets a chance to warm up (better with someone close!). Was talking to my sister last night in Duluth MN and we both agreed that it does seem like a lot of weather around the country (or least in the middle part of the country) does seem very correlated. While Duluth is certainly colder than Dallas, when it's colder than average here it's colder than average there.
As usual, my dad said it best in his morning report today "...Happy Valentine’s Day. May your life, especially today, be filled with love - romantic, work-related, patriotic, or just plain snug-and-warm contented. Oh, and, try for some chocolate, perhaps a little wine, maybe something good to eat, a good album on the i-Pod, a walk outdoors, new car, a house in the Bahamas, peace in Iraq, and a black American in the White House. Enjoy."
