Google Finance Beta

You had to figure this was coming. Google has launched the beta for it's own finance page. I highly recommend checking out. It has a very nice user interface with an incredible expanding stock chart that references company news. Also presented are the latest blog items on the company as well as more traditional news. Nifty nifty stuff.

Citizen Journalism

Isnt' the web just great? We had about 8 inches of rain in some parts of the Dallas area this past weekend. The best pictures are from citizen journalists out and about. These ones were collected by the Dallas Morning News. I'll bet there are even more on Flickr. Click on the pic below to see a larger view of Love Field. Follow the link below that to see all pics. One picture is the Skillman Avenue business district in the Lakewood neighborhood of Dallas - about three blocks from my house!

Box.net offers 1GB free storage with larger plans available for pretty cheap prices. Free 1 GB. How cool is that? Quicken backup files, here we come!

Free Starbucks - March 15

Yipee!!

According to this press release, Starbucks is offering free 12-oz cups of great coffee from 10AM-12PM at its more than 7,500 stores. This is part of it's "National Coffee Break" campaign and apparently is associated with a national effort by the company to sell more of their coffee makers.

So go get you some free java!

Myspace.com and Kids

Interesting article about the phenom Myspace.com on Alexa's blog. Pageviews for Myspace are in the top 10 of ALL websites AND not that many people know much about it beyond hearing about it. Well here's the scoop:

I think the lesson here is not to discount the kids. They will become the prime Internet demographic in the years to come and they will determine what's hot and what's not. Just like with soda, music and movies, the marketing dollars are more interested in my kids than me... and judging from MySpace, the marketers may be right. The kids are a major force on the Web.
