Time For A New Car?

I took my nine year old BMW to the shop (a great shop BTW - not the dealer) to have them look at 9 things that I needed to have fixed or maintained in my car. It looks like the estimate is going to be almost $2000 if I get everything done.

It seems like a lot of money but then I think about how many months of car payments that is for a similar car and it doesn't seem as much. I certainly haven't had to put too much into it over the last two to three years. At any rate, the plan is to probably buy a new car next year (I always looked at the 'price' for me to buy a premium car was that I would have it for 10 years). So now I have to start thinking about what needs fixing and what doesn't as the next year rolls around...

Still love the car though and honestly (this is a good lesson for me and for the readers) I think if I took better care of the interior throughout it's life, I would probably be happy with this car for three or four more years... The hot Texas sun and my lack of interior care has left the seats looking less than great.

Working Out

Today is Thursday and I did not make it to the gym on Tuesday or Wednesday. And, technically, I didn't make it today. However, I am going to mark it on my calendar anyway.

I ran almost a mile this morning and I did a bunch of exercises in my TV room. I have some dumbbells, leg weights, and a mat so I spent about 20 minutes doing "activities" including crunches and squats.

It's not great, but it's a start. I feel good about the start. : )

Going to the gym..tomorrow

I'm going to start going back to the gym. I was going regularly until late February. I got sick in Feburary and quit going. Then I started going on and off, but mainly off.

It's been 6 months - HALF A YEAR - and I have not been going to the gym regularly. Man, time flies.

I was going to start going today, but I went to bed too late last night. And, then, I was going to go after I walked the dogs, but Kevin called me and then it got too late.

Tomorrow, yes, I'll start tomorrow.....

The deed's been done

Well, I took Shotgun in yesterday to be fixed. His operation was in the morning and I went to the vet's at noon to see how he was doing. He was still recovering from the anesthesia and I felt bad. I picked him up at about 6P and he was very cheerful.

A couple of times now he's wimpered some, but for the most part he seems quite normal. You can see about a one inch cut right on his boy part, which I thought was strange. I guess I never thought much about how they extract the balls from the body.

I also had him micro chipped. And, lastly, the poor doggie still has mange, so we are going to continue that treatment. He doen't mind, I put the liquid into a tablespooon of ice cream!

Oh, and the big news too - Shotgun raised his leg to whizz against a tree for the first time ever yesterday on our walk before the big operation.

I can see his upper canine teeth coming in but he still has his baby canines too. They look so small in his snout now.

Shotgun Growth II

Some of you may recall the pic we posted of Shotgun for our May 21 show. Well, last weekend we put him in the same spot - take a look at what 2 1/2 months of good Pat's Mom lasagne can do!

My baby boy is growing up

Shotgun has been growing in his adult teeth (I can see the front ones coming in) but he still has his baby canine teeth.

Well, until today. He lost one! My puppy is growing up! Dogs look funny with only 3 canine teeth. I decided to see if the other ones were loose or not. The last lower one is loose for sure, but the top ones seem fairly lodged in. Yes, my puppy lets me stick my fingers in his mouth.

I'm going to get his balls cut off this week, that's for sure. Heh heh heh.

I hope he still follows me around the house after I do that...

Sometimes you have to say No

Addictions are hard to get rid of. Obessions are hard to shake. I ate 2 of the remaining 5 ice cream bars for lunch today.

That's it. I'm throwing the other 3 away right now.

I feel bad about it, but clearly I'm not capable of making the right decision when faced with chocolate cookies and ice cream and chocolate covering.

I'm so ashamed.

Confessions of a Desperate Podcaster

I feel bad about this, but I am going to unburden myself of it right here and now.

I bought 3 types of ice cream bars this past Sunday - to get ready for 8/2 - which is supposed to be Ice Cream Bar day.

There were 6 Snicker's ice cream bars, 4 Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie bars, and 6 Klondike bars.

I have eaten 11 of the 16 bars already. E-l-E-V-E-N. 11.

I ate 3 of them last night instead of having dinner. At least I didn't make myself a bloody mary or margarita to go with my ice cream bar debauchery.

There you have it. My confession. I'm not going to think about it again.

Well, there is that problem about showing up in unflattering places on my ass, but, eh, I'll worry about that later.
