The deed's been done

Well, I took Shotgun in yesterday to be fixed. His operation was in the morning and I went to the vet's at noon to see how he was doing. He was still recovering from the anesthesia and I felt bad. I picked him up at about 6P and he was very cheerful.

A couple of times now he's wimpered some, but for the most part he seems quite normal. You can see about a one inch cut right on his boy part, which I thought was strange. I guess I never thought much about how they extract the balls from the body.

I also had him micro chipped. And, lastly, the poor doggie still has mange, so we are going to continue that treatment. He doen't mind, I put the liquid into a tablespooon of ice cream!

Oh, and the big news too - Shotgun raised his leg to whizz against a tree for the first time ever yesterday on our walk before the big operation.

I can see his upper canine teeth coming in but he still has his baby canines too. They look so small in his snout now.

I know when I got fixed (no major removal, just a standard vasectomy), the doctor said, "The weirdest thing you may notice is the smell of burned flesh. Yes, that'll be you, but don't worry, you'll be under a local." Not sure how that makes you feel any better, but it's a funny little guy-getting-fixed story.

And you didn't get a picture of him lifting his leg? Man...

    Hi Brad,

Hope you are feeling better....I remember when I smelled "burning flesh" as I had my LASIK surgery. They didn't tell me about it and I almost passed out.

Shotgun seems happy as ever, I don't think he misses his balls at all.

He hasn't done the leg lifting the last two times we've walked, not sure what motivates him on that.

Now, he'll probably identify lifting his leg with going somewhere and getting things snipped... maybe you've cured him.
